Work is in progress for the Rivers and Wagtails project.

Local poet John Hegley ran a workshop in partnership with the University of Bedfordshire at the Lansdowne club on Thursday 14 January. Roughly 60 Lutonians came along and together generated some interesting responses.

The group worked on two performances: 'Memories of the Lea', where people told stories about the river; and writing and performance of poems with a start point of 'I am the Lea'.

John Hegley also performed his own song about the river to help get people in the mood and get inspiration flowing.

On the afternoon of Monday 14 March, Martin Thurlow and Dave Green from the University of Bedfordshire were interviewed on BBC 3 Counties Radio about the project, when they encouraged other local people to contatc them with their river-related stories.

The next stage of the project will be to run poetry and photography workshops with schools in Luton and the surrounding areas.
