18. Improve Singler's Bridge Entrance

Theme: People

Objective:

  • To increase the attractiveness, visibility and public access, to enable people to appreciate the river (commensurate with managing and protecting sensitive habitats and species)

Project description

To improve the attractiveness of the entrance to Singler's Marsh, which is one of the few places the public have access to the Mimram.

The entrance to Singler’s Marsh is one of the few places where the public can access the Mimram.  However, the entrance could be improved and this project plans to:

Improve the access gate by putting down hardcore as it frequently gets very muddy.

Include an information board about the Marsh and the Mimram due April 2015

The Friends of the Mimram, Singlers Marsh Special Interest Group will also run working parties to:

Clear the undergrowth to reveal the trees on the left side of the entrance and in the Drain

                 - started 2013 with the help of the Wednesday Group

Proactively manage the undergrowth along the river bank

Maintain it in good condition (see project 16)
