3. Catchment Sensitive Farming advice

Theme: Quality

  • To achieve water quality that is good enough to support a healthy aquatic ecology

Project description

To visit all farmers in the catchment and provide best practice advice on how to reduce the impacts of farming on water quality and habitats within the catchment.

The project will bring together farmers within the catchment to highlight the agricultural issues impacting on the catchment including diffuse pollution and soil management. It will deliver best practice advice to help reduce any negative environmental impact from the farms within the catchment. It will enable farmers to be part of a collaborative project that can deliver positive results in the catchment, and help to meet Water Framework Directive targets.

The project will help to disseminate the latest research providing opportunities to put in place evidence-based measures to reduce the impact that some agricultural practices can have on water quality and riparian habitats and species.
